Occupational Therapist
Tyler Schutz

I am a passionate and approachable Occupational Therapist with over a decade of experience in community-based neurological rehabilitation. I have a special interest in neurological rehabilitation, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury, as well as in driving assessments and the management of other neurological conditions. My work has spanned acute hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, and community settings, where I have cultivated strong relationships with NDIS and NIISQ partners and providers.

My clinical expertise includes:

  • Supporting individuals through neurological rehabilitation, including cognitive, perceptual, and upper limb interventions, as well as fatigue management and vision therapy.

  • Conducting comprehensive driving assessments and developing tailored rehabilitation plans in collaboration with specialist driving instructors.

  • Prescription of assistive technology that enables participation in meaningful activities.

  • Creating personalised strategies that empower individuals to improve quality of life, maximise independence, and engage in meaningful activities whilst managing neurological conditions.

In addition to clinical work, I am committed to mentoring and supporting other therapists, contributing to service improvements, and collaborating with clients and families to navigate their unique journeys.

My approach is distinctly client-centred, ensuring that each person’s unique needs are at the forefront of their therapeutic journey. I am driven by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, whether it’s helping someone return to driving, reengage in meaningful roles and activities, or feel more confident in daily life.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (University of Queensland)

  • Occupational Therapy Driving Assessor (Flinders University)

  • Member of Occupational Therapy Australia

  • Registered Occupational Therapist (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)

My superpower is combining evidence-based practice with a whole lot of compassion, creating a space where clients feel supported, empowered and ready to tackle their goals.
